I am hosting a Birtday gathering. What kind of entertainment can I provide?

I have thought of having a choir come and sing carols, or a small musical group (ie quartet) come and entertain for 1 hour.

I'm hoping to entertain my friends and family, without playing games; there are going to be too many people of different ages and interests to have a game night be success. So, I'm hoping for some small entertainment. Any ideas?

The music sounds nice. Maybe you could have carolers come to your front door and sing Christmas carols.

Put your tree up - already have the lights and tinsel on the tree - then place the ornaments out - and let people help decorate the tree.

Have a white elephant gift exchange.

Reply:I think the carolling is the best entertainment . It will allow friends and family to mingle and then something wonderful happens...The carolers ...then back to mingling for a bit ..........
Reply:A dance carpet is the best solution!
Reply:If you are going to have several age groups, then ask them what talents they have and let them be your entertainment. You'll be surprised how many talented people are going to be invited by you...It will be a special gift to the honoree.
Reply:A string quartet! That sounds wonderful. I like to mingle at

parties. I do not like to sit down like a good girl and listen to

anyone short of Yo Yo Ma.... so, if your quartet would play soft music and then at some point, when all your guests have arrived and made themselves comfortable, have the

quartet play carols and hand the guests those little paper-bound collections of carols. They are not expensive and would be wonderful party favors. Your guests will always remember the time.......

Another thing you might do is hire a couple of recorder players in addition to the quartet. The sound is just right for that sort of music and it would add an extra little bit of cheer Like string players who are very special people, recorder players are adorable people to have around.

Be sure you make for all your musicians a little "tussie mussie" - a litttle corsage of greens and little flowers to

wear. They will love it.
Reply:You can hire a flamenco guitarist (spanish guitar). A caterer I know recommends this kind of entertainment because it's soft background music. The guitarist usually just walks around and knows how to stay out of your way.

My friend said that he charges about $300.

Hope that helps.
