How do we find out who is hosting our company website?

Hi,

The person who set up the website for our small company recently left. We need to make changes to the website, but don't have the password, and can't ask the person (left on not so good terms). I assume we need to contact whoever is hosting the website to reset the password - how do we find out who that is? We tried whois.com but for contact information is just lists our employee that left.

Thanks.

you need to ping your domain name or go to oyetools.com and find who is the registered owner of your domain IP address.

Then you can contact them to assit you in modifing the account details on the website.
Reply:i forget the program but there is one that will tell you every password typed onto your comp for websites with user id, login details all passwords ever used. can you get into the server it might be in there. if you have a ftp client that auto connects to your site you can use snadboy to reveal the astriks in the password section and it tell you what they are. all types of way's to get the password.

i would do the whois and look up top at small print for hoster.

snadboy works like this, say you have a password section filled in but they are coded so you can't see them then you would use snadboy and take its marker mouse over the password and it will tell you what the actual password is.

pinging them is just gonna tell you how many hops it has taken to reach the next ip.
Reply:You have a bigger problem then finding your password. If his contact information is on the domain then he can do whatever he wants with it. You are going to have big problems trying to transfer that domain into your name.

As far as the webhosting, don't you get billed for it? Check the credit card statements.
