How do you find out who is hosting a website?

I know that some web pages have that info readily available, but if its not I was wondering how I could find out what company hosts the site...believe it or not its for legal reasons as a lawyer I work for is trying to sue someone...so if you know of a site with this info it would be much appreciated

Your question is vague... Do you want to find out the details of the company that hosts the website or owner of the website?





(1) If you want to find out the hosting company, you can try http://www.webhosting.info/domains/ and enter your domain name (in the format yourdomain.com and NOT www.yourdomain.com). Most of the time the details are accurate.





(2) If you want to find out the details of the owners of the website, the above method would work, but some cloacking is possible for various reason. Inorder to find this out, you'll also need to take some offline actions (like calling the hosting company %26amp; asking them the details or calling the suspected owners %26amp; speak to them like client etc). So inorder to successfully find out a owner, its a combination of online + offline research

Reply:Do a WHOIS search (see link below). It is not fool proof becuase there has been some cloaking allowed, and many entries are incorrect on purpose. But give it a try.
