In hosting a website how to define the homepage?

I know to create a website and now I have created a website.





However, this is the first time I am going to upload a site and make it online. I have registered a domain name and got enough webspace to host the site.





Please tell me what are the things that I need to take care when uploading and how to define the homepage when uploading the site.





If possible give me some sites for referrals.

Make sure to rename the page you want to the home page as INDEX.HTM OR default.htm





INDEX.HTM OR default.htm what we call the landing page and it is the first page i get when i open your website.

Reply:Just name your first page index.htm or index.html and place that file in your public_html or possibly www directory on your webhost.





Now when you visit your site, www.domain.com, it will take you right to index.html or index.htm. and there is no need to type in index.html or index.htm
Reply:inside the main folder that your domain name is pointing to you should have a page called "index.html".





If your site is called "webpage", when someone types in www.webpage.com, they will get the page that you have called index.html.





You can do it a different way, by having a name for your home page and pointing your domain to that page, but the usual way is to call it index.html. Generally you will have different folders for your images, buttons and other things like this, then just point to the files in these folders when you are using them.
