I am hosting a wine party for my girlfriends and would a few ideas for appetizers?

There will white and red wine served.

I am hosting a wine party for my girlfriends and would a few ideas for appetizers?
veggies and dip, crackers and cheese and something sweet like chocolate brownies.
Reply:Cheese fondue is really good for a wine party. Or just a cheese and cracker platter with grapes served with it...bruschetta bread is also tasty with wine.
Reply:make some kabobs with salami, cheese, green peppers, olives, celery, cherry tomatoes and pour some Italian salad dressing on them (a big hit at my last party)
Reply:1. Spinach and artichoke dip served with pita chips and/or crackers is always a hit at my house.





2. Also, some cubed cheeses. I always serve a mild white cheese on one side of a platter and a more robust yellow cheese on the other.





3. An assortment of olives from your markets' deli or olive bar is quick, easy and well received by most.





Just present a variety of flavors and keep it simple as this will be more relaxing for everyone in attendance...especially the host!

Reply:I would get some Brie cheese warm it, serve it with french bread and grapes, and maybe a couple of other fruits, and then some spice Havarti cheese and crackers.. also some sharp cheddar slices, and then get a few cold cuts and roll them up on a tray... .that's what my girlfriends and I have when we are drinking wine... goes with red and white...Have fun, and pour me a glass! LOL

8 slices center cut bacon, chopped


8 ounces softened cream cheese


1/2 cup mayonnaise


2 rounded teaspoons prepared Dijon style mustard


1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese, available on dairy aisle


3 scallions, chopped


1/2 cup smoked almonds, coarsely chopped


Baby carrots and a selection of spiced flat breads, cocktail sized pumpernickel or rye breads, or sliced whole grain baguettes, for dipping








Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.


Brown bacon in nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Drain crisp bacon bits on paper towels.





In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon, Swiss and scallions with cooked bacon. Transfer to a shallow small casserole or baking dish and bake until golden and bubbly at edges, 15 to 18 minutes. Top with chopped smoked almonds. Place dip on a platter and surround warm casserole with breads and carrots for dipping.

Cube up an 8oz package of cream cheese, sprinkle any of your favorite fresh herbs on top (I love fresh basil %26amp; parsley), add fresh lemon zest then pour Kraft's Sun Dried Tomato salad dressing over all. Toss to coat the cream chees cubes %26amp; serve w/ crackers. They'll love it!
Reply:Wine party can be fun with different types of food to get your pallet going for the wine. One is having a cheese platter (choose several types of cheese. Sharp, creamy, garlic, and blue cheese etc...) and have fresh Italian bread, roast two whole garlic bulb in the oven for about one hour. ( if you do not have a garlic roaster, use foil and put olive oil on the outside of the bulb and slice the top of the garlic bulb just enough expose the garlic) The garlic is like a spread for the bread and cheese. Next, is called pigs in a blanket, you take mini hot dogs and instant biscuits and place them in the oven. Flatten the biscuit and place the mini hot dog in the corner and wrap up the hot dog in the biscuit. Place in the oven until the bread is brown. Oven is 350 or whatever the biscuit can says. On the table have mustard, ketchup, all different types spread to put on the piggies :) Sweat side you can have a fruit dip. One package of cream cheese, one 7oz jar of marshmallow creme. Place cream cheese and the the jar of marshmallow creme in a bowl and mix with a electric mixer until its nice and smooth. Chill in the frig and serve with graham crackers, strawberries, apples, and whatever you like to dip.

zucchinni pizza's





slice zucchinni crossways at a slight angle, about a quarter inch, lay on baking sheet, put a little pizza sauce on it, cheese, and then top with whatever you like, I like roatsed red peppers, kalmata olives...that type of thing, bake until cheese melts, and looks done, put on plate and serve.





Also love (and I know this one is queer), dill pickle spears spreak with cream cheese, rolled in ham sliced in inch size pieces, can stick tooth pick through to hold together, refridgerate prior to serving.
Reply:well you should always start with the least strong products first and the food you are serving must complement the wine not over power it ie, start with 1 glass of champagne on arrival with canapes. then start with a white wine the least strongest tasting to the sharpest tasting.


then to reds again the same thing least full bodied to the most full bodied wine. if you happen to serve a dessert wine leave about 15 min after the red wine and try to serve a small amount of sorbet which you can buy at supermarkets only buy the fruit ones as the chocolate scream nasty at a wine party. heres a couple of food ideas.


champagne. canapes


buy the pre made little toasts or buy a foccacia or other flatish bread and lightly toast it.


do about 4 or 5 different ones but no more than that.


like smoked salmon and dill on cream cheese


hommus and sundried tomato


asparagus and chicken


highly recommended to go to your local gorment food supplier its usualy a shop that sell heaps of kitchen appliences ect they will hook you up with their latest products


and most of the stuff will last for ages


for the white.


chumula chicken just marrinate and cook easy as that


vol au vents with seafood in them (use white based sauce)


stuffed mushroom caps just peel mushrooms and stuff with diced mushroom, onion and bacon. cook the diced stuff than stuff in the mushroom then heat.


any seafood that has already been peeled served hot or cold.


for the red


duck if you can not get in small amounts go to a chinese restaurant and get a take away meal of peking duck this is a great way to do a non fuss event to so if you like something else there you can also buy vol au vents and stuff them or roll it up in fillo pastry to make a parcel.


dessert wine. tiamisu .girls love chocolate and you just have to have chocolate for them its the winner.


and cheese platter so they can finish the wine off and sit and relax you dont want the guests to think your rushing them so its a good way to start wrapping up the evening in a positive way. all this stuff you can do in advance and just heat.

Reply:Although the typical is cheese plates and/or fruits I usually make the appetizer below at my parties. This goes well with a chardonnay.

Reply:Get a meat and cheese tray , club crackers, and fruit tray with strawberries, etc.
Reply:It depends on the region and the types of wine you are serving. I would choose a region and serve foods from there. Generally some type of cured meats, a fruit and cheese tray, a few types of crackers. Also a few types of canapes. This should suffice.
Reply:Get some cheese %26amp; cold cut trays from your local delicatessen. This way you can concentrate on geting the house ready for the party. If you don't have space enough to chill the white wine then either book some space in your neighbor's fridge or ask your wine store to pack the wine in dry ice for you. Make sure you decant enough red wine in advance. If you don't have glasses enough (or enough of the right ones) make a run to your local Ikea - they have great glasses at great prices. While there pick up napkins too. You may want to make or buy glass markers so that you don't run out of glasses too quickly..
Reply:I think fruit, cheese and crackers are always a nice, light accompanyment for wine. You could have an assortment of each. Also think about a veggie plate with carrots, cucumber and celery.
Reply:Ok try different cheeses those always pair well with wine and fruit is a good thing too I would say go to the cheese monger and tell him what u have he will make suggestions try like about a dozen cheeses. You can always do like some chicken satay or a few dips like artichoke, spinach, crab, hummus are good to try. Good Luck
