I'm opening up a business, it has nothing to do with food, it's a school to teach English as a second language.
I'm inviting some friends who work in human resources and might get me many students coming to my school.
I want to serve their choice of either a fish or salmon fillets with two sides; shrimp and tuna croquettes.
I want to get some round tables, some fish bowls, and some cheap fish that can live like a week in a bowl without any special equipment.
Are live fish swimming on a bowl a good centerpiece for a fish dinner?
If hosting a dinner where you're serving fish, are goldfish in a bowl a good centerpiece?
i think that would be a creative and humerous idea for a centerpiece.
kudos for thinking of that
get the feeder goldfish at pet stores. they are about 5-10 for a buck i think. maybe get some of those flat glass marbles for decoration in the bottom of the bowl.
or if you want ppl to take them home... get beta- japanese fighting fish- they are more attractive and have good life spans... new owners just need to get the beta food at the pet store
Reply:If, you are launching a business, you should know that having live animals on display require a fish specialist that can maintain the environment and test water for the fish constantly during the event. Otherwise, what you are planning to do is considered illegal! Not to mention, it's kind of in bad taste to have live fish, when, you'll be serving them later. Try other fish theme decorations like placemats, fish shaped bowls, or just plain fish bowls with colored beads.
Do not use the live fish, you don't know how people will react and remember it can be illegal!
Reply:When I first read "goldfish" I thought of the crackers and I was not sure...but then I read what you are wanting to do and the real fish are a great idea but kind of creepy since you are eating fish. I started thinking back to the crackers....HOW FUN WOULD THAT BE. Fish bowls filled with gold fish crackers...they go with the concept of the school ..since ppl usually associate the two.
Reply:Sounds creative but I personally would not like to see live fish swimming while I wuz eating dead onez.
Reply:That sounds incredibly tacky. Just stick to a low sitting floral arrangement. Flowers are always a better choice than live animals for a center piece.
Reply:Noooooooooo! It's cruel to the fish. Besides, goldfish are pets....if you had a cat or dog, would you use them as a centerpiece?
Reply:I think it's a bad idea...the menu is ALL fish...try some veggies!
Reply:Very tacky. I would stick with flowers. Good luck with your school!
Reply:ONE WORD ; NO.
WHY NOT HAVE COLOURED PEBBLES , SOME WATER PLANTS AND GRAVEL ? LIKE AN UNDERWATER GARDEN ?
Reply:I would say NO. It sounds like a good idea and some might like it but then you might offend some people. Even though people aren't eating the same fish, they might get sentimental and have a ruined meal.
Reply:Personally, I don't thing so. It sounds a little creepy to me.
Reply:people may not want to see the face of what they are eating.
Reply:why not buy some conch shells and fill them with flowers and greenery? just don't use live gold fish!
Reply:no because you can't show something alive and happy swimming around in its bowl then show your friends what there about to eat how happy the salmon was before someone caught them in a net and gutted them cut them all up and then cooked um up think about it be like eating something you don't know what it is then being told what it is, makes you not want to eat it again like rocky mountain oysters yeah you might eat it not knowing what it is but would you eat it if you had a bull right in front of ya I don't think so lol
