Do you agree with the protesters against China hosting the Olympics?

I'm assuming that most of us (normal) people want Tibet to be free. However, do you feel that the protesters against China hosting the Olympics are taking things too far by ruining the world wide tradition of the carring of the torch? (I'm not advocating China or talking bad about them. I just want your opinion)

Do you agree with the protesters against China hosting the Olympics?
I think the protesters need to leave the torch bearers alone, they have nothing to do with what's going on in China. I do think that some countries should boycott the games in China.

They have some of the worst human rights record I have ever seen.
Reply:why pick on China, is it because the West fears its rise? why not bash Russia over Chechnya, Spain over Basque and Catalan regions, why not Iran and Syria nd Iraq for suppressing Kurds independence, why not many others? Tibet has been with China since Tang and Yuan dynasties. Insulting China or messing up the sports celebration of Olympics will cause anger and stoke Chinese ultra-nationalism.

Democracy should not be boorish, rude, insulting others, that is not peace and freedom.
Reply:There are many appropriate venues for protesting China's Tibet policy, but the Olympics is NOT it.

What I find interesting, about the whole mess, is that the majority of the people protesting China are Liberals. Which goes to show the confusion and stupidity of the protesters.

They hate Bush for getting into war in Iraq, but, instead, want us to attack China or Sudan!???
Reply:The tradition isn't that old. It started in 1936 at Hitler's olympics. I think the protests are a good thing. China needs to know that the world sees it's human rights violations and doesn't approve.
Reply:You are correct. The Olympics should be for the athletes . For decades, however, people have used it as a vehicle for protest of politics.
Reply:No I don't

Badly timed and way out of hand.

It is only the Chinese people and the Athletes that will suffer, protesting like they have has done nothing for the cause of Tibet.
Reply:I understand their frustration; from what I have seen, they have only been non-violently protesting, which is cool with me.
