What type of web hosting is needed to run an online message board forum?

It will be new so there wont be many users, is a freewebhost sufficient?

What would be average bandwidth needed?

The more bandwidth you have, the better.

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

Visit the site to check details.

Reply:Do you have your software picked out for setting up the board? Invision has an excellent package.

Bandwidth depends on traffic.

I have no interest in or stock in either of the products but ipowerweb has an excellent hosting service with more memory than you will even need and it is about 6 per month.

Reply:Back not long ago I was confronted with the same question and I came across a great free service that sets the board up for you, you just have to configure your preferences. It's all done in PHP.

Try it, you might like it. See the link below
Reply:Your web hosting MUST support PHP and MYSQL.

Phpbb is the one commonly used in the industry
