Ideas for hosting a children’s talent show?

I am hosting a talent show for elementary kids.( there is going to be about 2 hundred people there) Dose anyone know of any good short funny 30 second joke/skits that I could use to add in between acts in the talent show.

OK, I've actually done this for 10 years now... we did the joke thing for a couple of years and I've found that it just drags the show on longer than it needs to be. If you really want to do it, I've had 1 or 2 kids do school themed or other kid appropriate jokes (there are plenty of books available) in between the acts. I've ended up just having students introduce the acts. To stall for acts that need setup time, this is what I do. I schedule a piano act (our piano was off the stage) before and or any act that needed time to set up on stage. I always had a 5th or 6th grader doing the curtain or working crew if any groups needed help. If any group needs extra or specialized help, have one of the parents from that group be ready to help their children set up and take down their stuff in RECORD time. Always do a mandatory run through for all the participants with lighting and music so that you get all the kinks out before the show. I always had the kids turn in their music to me ahead of time (as soon as possible, at the audition is best) because the first few years I can't tell you how many of them forgot their music the day of the show. I ended up making 1 CD at home of all the music in order which made things easier for me during the show. I also started doing a finale for all the kids to come out in the end and sin one song together. At all rehearsals, I had them sing this song a few times first and then let them practice on stage individually (with their own songs) if they needed to. BTW, the audition was only so that I could preview the acts. You'd be surprised by how many parents let their children dance to inappropriate music! Good luck!
